Workwear with logo: embroidery or printing?
Workwear with a logo strengthens brand presence, creates recognition, and ensures a uniform appearance for the team. Various customization options are available. However, the most frequent question is: Should the workwear be embroidered or printed?
Both methods have their advantages. The decisive factors are the desired design, the material of the clothing, the intended use, and the care requirements.
Embroidery – high-quality and particularly durable
Embroidery involves stitching the logo directly into the fabric using thread. This creates a high-quality, three-dimensional look. Embroidery is durable, wash-resistant, and suitable for workwear that is worn regularly and frequently cleaned. We use direct embroidery for this – for name, company, or logo embroidery, in multiple colors, and even for single items.
Embroidery is particularly well-suited for:
Polo shirts, shirts and blouses
Work jackets and vests
Fleece clothing
Caps and hats
smaller, clearly designed company logos
Limitations exist with very fine fonts, intricate details, color gradients, or particularly large motifs. Lightweight and very thin materials are also not always suitable for direct embroidery.

Printing - flexible and detailed
During printing, the design is applied to the surface of the textile. Depending on the chosen printing method, fine details, multiple colors, gradients, and larger designs can be reproduced very well. Printing is possible for both large print runs and very small quantities.
Printing is particularly suitable for:
T-shirts and light tops
larger logos and lettering
intensely colored or highly detailed motifs
Promotional, trade fair and event clothing
larger quantities
The durability of a print depends on the printing method used, the material, the level of wear and tear, and how often it will be washed. Therefore, the printing method should always be chosen to suit the garment and its intended use.

Embroidery or printing: a direct comparison
criterion | Embroidery (direct embroidery) | Oppression |
optics | high-quality and three-dimensional | flexible, smooth and versatile |
Attention to detail | for clear, less intricate designs | very good for fine and multicolored designs |
Large motifs | only conditionally suitable | especially well suited |
durability | very high, very robust | depending on printing process and care |
Suitable clothing | Polos, shirts, jackets, vests, caps | Shirts, lightweight textiles, promotional and event clothing |
From what quantity | from one piece | from very small quantities |
Cost | Depending on size and number of stitches; program setup costs are only incurred with the first order. | depending on process, colors and quantity |
As a first guideline: For a smaller, subtle, and particularly durable logo, embroidery is often the right choice. For large, colorful, or detailed designs, printing usually offers more options. However, the final decision should always be made taking into account the specific textile and its intended use.
More than embroidery and printing
In addition to embroidery and printing, other options are available: laser engraving for subtle, single-color effects; patch and reflective transfers for highly detailed reproduction; embroidered and woven emblems in particularly robust or delicate versions; and rubber labels for a modern design. We offer free warehousing and sewing services for emblems and labels upon request. An overview of all processes and their features can be found on our Logo Service for Workwear page.
For larger order quantities, customized solutions are also possible. These can include, for example, custom zip tags with company logos or other specially developed brand details. The feasibility and economic viability of each solution will be assessed on a project-specific basis.
Expertise is crucial when it comes to customizing workwear with a logo.
Professional workwear is not just about which logo looks best. Equally important are the permissible and suitable methods, placements, and sizes for each garment.
Special care is required when it comes to protective clothing : it may only be embellished in previously certified locations and in approved logo sizes. Therefore, we carefully check where and in what size a logo can be applied before implementation.
Even with workwear suitable for industrial laundering, the finishing process must be tailored to the subsequent washing conditions. The high mechanical, thermal, and chemical stresses of professional textile washing place significantly higher demands on the garments than ordinary household washing. Therefore, we ensure that specially produced logos are used, designed to withstand these stresses for as long as possible.
This expertise is crucial to ensure that finishing, clothing, protective function and care requirements reliably match each other.
