Women's workwear: fit, cut & selection tips
For a long time, workwear was cut almost exclusively for men – and women had to make do with oversized, ill-fitting garments. That has changed. Today there is women's workwear with body-conscious cuts that combine comfort, safety and a smart appearance. Here is what matters when choosing it.
Why women-specific cuts are important
A men's or unisex cut often sits badly across the shoulders, chest and hips. The results are restricted freedom of movement, less comfort and – at work in particular – a safety issue, because clothing that is too loose can snag or get in the way. Women's cuts account for shorter sleeve and leg lengths, for waist and hip shape, and for sufficient room to move. That is what delivers a secure, comfortable fit across a full working day.

Fit: close-fitting, but with freedom of movement – ideally with stretch in high-wear areas
Material: durable, breathable and easy to care for, so that the clothing can withstand frequent washing and everyday work.
