High-visibility clothing – This standard defines requirements for garments that increase the visibility of wearers and make them more visible in all lighting conditions to ensure their safety.

The EN 17353 standard specifies requirements for protective clothing for enhanced visibility in medium-risk situations—e.g., when working in poorly lit areas, away from traffic. It complements EN ISO 20471 (for high-risk high-visibility) and is aimed at lower-risk situations where visibility is still critical. Type A – Daylight Visibility: Reflective or fluorescent materials for improved daytime visibility. Suitable for hikers or joggers, for example, during daylight hours. Type B – Visibility in the dark: Contains retroreflective materials for better visibility in the dark due to artificial light (e.g. car headlights). • Type B1 – Only on limbs (e.g. reflective armbands). • Type B2 – combination of limbs and trunk. • Type B3 – Outline marking of the entire body (front + back). Type AB – Day and Night Visibility: Combines fluorescent and retroreflective material for visibility in all lighting conditions – day, dusk, and night. Ideal for changing light conditions or twilight periods.

Protective clothing against heat and flame – Specifies performance requirements for clothing used to protect against heat and/or flame, providing a higher level of safety in hazardous environments.

Protective clothing for welding and allied processes - This standard specifies the minimum requirements for protective clothing worn during welding and allied processes to protect the wearer from spatter, brief exposure to flame and radiant heat.

Protective clothing - Electrostatic properties – Defines the requirements for clothing that reduces electrostatic charge, thus minimizing the risk of sparking that could be dangerous in explosive environments.

Protective clothing against the thermal hazards of an electric arc - Refers to clothing designed to protect against the thermal hazards of an electric arc and helps prevent severe burns and other injuries.

Protective clothing against liquid chemicals – This standard specifies requirements for clothing that provides limited protection against light splashes or light exposure to chemicals.

Protective clothing – Protection against rain – Specifies the performance criteria for garments used as protection against rain, including waterproofness and water vapor permeability.

Protective clothing certified to this standard is designed to protect against the effects of cold environments with temperatures above -5 °C. These effects include not only low air temperatures, but also humidity and wind speed.

Protective clothing for use with hand-held chain saws – Part 2: Protection against cuts – Specifies the requirements for protective clothing specifically designed for use with hand-held chain saws to minimise injuries from cuts.

Textiles - Sun protection properties - Specifies criteria for clothing that provides protection against ultraviolet radiation. This standard evaluates the effectiveness of fabrics that block UV radiation and protect the skin.

Industrial washing and finishing methods for testing workwear – The standard specifies methods for testing workwear for its ability to withstand industrial washing and finishing processes without compromising its functionality. These standards ensure that protective clothing functions effectively under different risk conditions and adequately protects the wearer.

The RIS-3279-TOM is a specific safety standard for high-visibility clothing in the railway industry. Its main objective is to maximise the visibility of railway workers on or near tracks to ensure their safety. It is based on the European standard EN ISO 20471, but sets stricter and more specific requirements for the railway sector. This means that clothing must fulfil both standards. A key feature is the mandatory fluorescent orange colour for high-visibility clothing, with precise specifications for colour tone and brightness. In contrast to EN ISO 20471, RIS-3279-TOM does not permit Class 1 high-visibility clothing in the track area. Requirements for retroreflective materials are also specified.

HACCP stands for "Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points". This standardized procedure is used to analyze and control safety risks in the production of food. The regulation is intended to minimize the risk of loose foreign objects entering the production process. This is why there is a requirement, among other things, to use inside pockets. Work clothing that complies with HACCP principles is divided into three risk classes: Clothing in risk class 1: Clothing in this risk class offers relatively low protection. It is used in environments where the risk of contact with food is minimal because the food is sufficiently protected by its packaging. Clothing of risk class 2: Clothing in this risk class offers a high level of protection. It is used when working with perishable or unpackaged foods that do not undergo further processing. Clothing in risk class 3: Clothing in this risk class offers the highest level of protection. It is needed when the hygiene risk is greatest, for example when handling unpackaged, ready-to-eat and perishable foods.
