We are delighted about the latest mention in the OEKO-TEX® report on sustainable supply chains for workwear and protective clothing. This recognition shows us that we are on the right track - and motivates us to work even more consistently on fair, transparent and environmentally friendly production.
Sustainability is not just a buzzword at Ötscher-Berufskleidung, but an integral part of our corporate philosophy. Right from the development stage of our products, we ensure that design, function and environmental compatibility are harmonised. We also focus on durable materials, short transport routes and high social standards during production.
Two important awards are a strong sign of this approach: the OEKO-TEX® STeP Level 3 certifications and the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label.
What does OEKO-TEX® STeP mean?
OEKO-TEX® STeP (Sustainable Textile & Leather Production) is a comprehensive certification system that evaluates not only ecological, but also social and production-related aspects. The criteria include:
Environmental protection (e.g. waste water treatment, energy efficiency)
Occupational health and safety
Social responsibility and fair working conditions
Chemicals management
Quality management and
Efficient use of resources
are scrutinised closely. Certification level 3 stands for particularly progressive implementation, continuous improvement and a holistic approach.
MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® - sustainability is transparent
Selected Ötscher products also carry the MADE IN GREEN label. This gives our customers the transparent assurance that:
✅ All components have been tested for harmful substances (in accordance with OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100)
✅ The product was manufactured in environmentally friendly factories
✅ Social working conditions are observed along the supply chain
The special advantage: Each label is traceable - end consumers can use an individual product ID or QR code to find out exactly where and under what conditions the respective item of clothing was produced.
This not only creates trust, but also makes sustainable behaviour visible and verifiable - exactly what modern workwear should do today.
Sustainability as a shared journey
With the STeP Level 3 and MADE IN GREEN certifications, we deliberately go one step further: we not only make sustainable textile production possible, but also transparent and traceable.
For us, this award is not the goal, but a milestone. It emphasises our aspiration to not only communicate responsibility to the outside world, but to actively live it - day after day, product after product.
Because for us, real sustainability means: quality that lasts. Responsibility that works. And clothing that not only looks good, but also does good. 👕🌍
